OOCL - Transition to eBL in 2024
OOCL - Transition to eBL in 2024
December 13, 2023

Electronic Bills of Lading (eBL)

Export Customers to transition from January 2024

Dear Customer,

By using Electronic Bills of Lading (eBL) our exporter customers will:

  • Receive a Seaway B/L faster.
  • Have a record logged of when SWB is sent and received by the consignee.
  • No longer need to wait for OOCL at Origin or Destination to action an Express Release request.
  • Be able to transfer cargo ownership title from shipper to consignee in a click of a button.
  • No longer need to endorse and send those original B/L by courier to their consignee anymore!

OOCL is pleased to advise that Electronic Bills of Lading (eBL) is now available to all Shippers. From January 2024 shipments under SeaWay Bill and Express Release will be the first to transitioned to eBL. Customers with shipments under Original B/L without Bank or Letter of Credit involvement can also transition to eBL from January 2024.

By leveraging blockchain technology, eBL provides a digital channel for all the involved parties such as shippers, cargo owners, and forwarders to access the real time trade status in the shipping process while guaranteeing the security, accuracy, and authenticity of data.

Customers will soon be contacted by OOCL Australia's local sales team to begin the transition by registering at: https://www.oocl.com/eng/ourservices/eservices/eBL/Pages/default.aspx

Yours faithfully,

OOCL (Australia) Pty Ltd.
