Technical Engineer (Ref: ATE/TE/GDSC/ZHA-ISDC)
- Ensure that level-1 and 2 issues experienced by end-users are handled in a manner that is both high quality and aligned with business requirements. Escalate issues to Level 3 support, or external vendors when required.
- Maintain and develop standard procedures to handle incidents and perform root-cause analysis on recurring problems.
- Coordinate personnel resources such as user representatives to perform Level 1 tasks and incident resolution.
- Maintain, develop, test, and enforce corporate-wide hardware and software standards.
- Design, manage, and optimize hardware and software deployments to desktops.
- Ensure that all desktops are adequately secured against viruses and other malicious damage by deploying anti-virus tools and system updates as required.
- Deploy and administer centralized management software tools such as Microsoft SMS, Altiris, Softricity, remote control software, etc.
- Focus on Service Level Assurance. Sustain adequate consistency, predictability and stability of all desktop level systems and services supported by the Information Technology global organization.
- Act as a contact person for external vendors during installation, rearrangement, repair and/or removal of equipment or services.
- Develop supporting documentation, including diagrams, Standard Operating Procedures, and work instructions.
- Proactively contribute to the development of a firm foundation for desktop support processes with future scalability in mind.
- All interactions, work flow, productivity levels and quality standards are implemented with a “Customer Service” approach to both the internal and external customers.
- Perform after hours support duties to sustain systems and service levels – 24/7/365.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related disciplines.
- Proficiency in spoken and written English and Chinese a must
- Minimum 3 years administration and support of desktop environments, preferably in a multi-site environment.
- Strong team player.
- Symantec Ghost
- Strong working knowledge of desktops/laptops, Microsoft desktop technologies:
- Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft SQL knowledge preferred.
- Microsoft Office support including Excel and Powerpoint
- Microsoft Outlook troubleshooting in Exchange Server environments
- Microsoft SMS, Active Directory, 2000/2003 server
- Knowledge of TCPIP and Cisco networking is a plus.
- Over the phone remote support for DSL, RAS, dialup and VPN troubleshooting.
- MCSE certification is desired.
- Possess 1- 4 years work experience will be considered as Assistant Technical Engineer.
