Notice to Shippers

Requirement of Cargo Palletizing for Riyadh Shipments

Dear Customers, 

We would like to inform you that Saudi Railways Organization has announced a new cargo palletizing regulation, to take effect on 26 February 2009, all containerized cargoes to be discharged at Dammam and carried by railway to Riyadh Dry Port must be palletized for cargo protection purpose.

To ensure smooth cargo handling and avoid exposure to damage during unloading and loading, shippers should ensure that their cargoes are well put in pallets before entering Dammam port. In case cargoes are left in un-palletized manner when arrive Dammam, shippers will be fined SR 1,000 and SR 2,000 for each 20 feet and 40 feet containers respectively. Shippers are also liable for any extra costs and/or affected cargo clearance due to non-compliance.
