Local Information > Local News > 2012 > Local Customs Ban Cargo in Transit to Libya - Update
Local News
January 04, 2012

Further to our previous advice, please be informed that local customs confirmed Cargo in transit to Libya could still be processed per standard clause under cargo description in BL and Cargo Manifest.

However, The Egyptian Customs Authority is still applying the below rules as an anti smuggling risk management measures that require customer's compliance and prompt action:

• Containerized cargo in transit to Libya must be reloaded into containers with carrier seal intact.
• Reload of containers with cargo in transit to Libya must be carried out by sea on liner container vessels.

In line with recent development, we are pleased to advise that OOCL will resume acceptance of 'Cargo in Transit to Libya' bookings to Egypt.

Should you require further information please contact your local Evge office.
