OOCL is actively involved in the Vessel Speed Reduction Program developed by the Port of Long Beach and Port of Los Angeles since 2005. Our vessels achieved a 100% compliance rate in reducing sailing speeds within 20 nautical miles of the harbor, and in 2011 that further extended to within 40 nautical miles, in order to help lower vessel emission levels. |

Long Beach Container Terminal (LBCTI converted all of its diesel-powered yard equipment to a CARB-verified alternative diesel fuel. The newly developed fuel is expected to reduce particulate emissions by as much as 46 percent and carbon monoxide emissions by 30 percent. |

Both Long Beach Container Terminal and Kaoshiung Container Terminal (KAOCT) converted to electricity for large cranes. |
