We Will Rock You – OOCL Corporate Night
OOCL invited more than 300 customers and guests to rock the night away at a cocktail reception and viewing of We Will Rock You, held at the Hong Kong Academy of Performing Arts on May 30, 2008.
Of course, that was just the date on Planet Earth. On stage, the date is three hundred years in the future on Planet Mall. Live music is banned, but the kids are in rebellion, fighting against the all-powerful Globalsoft Corporation, ruled by the Killer Queen, which controls their lives and feeds them a diet of synthesised pop.
It is left to the Bohemians, together with rebels Galileo and Scaramouche to save the world from conformity, Ga Ga girls and boy bands. They defeat the Killer Queen and fulfil their prophecy to allow live music to be heard everywhere on Planet Mall.
The show comprises 24 of QUEEN’s best-known hits, with a hilarious plot written by English comedian Ben Elton. The rocking music, funny quips and outrageous costumes led to a thrilling evening for the entire audience, capped by the magnificent Bohemian Rhapsody to finish.
At the OOCL-sponsored cocktail reception, guests mingled with OOCL senior management, including Chairman and CEO, Mr CC Tung. Delicious canapés and cocktails were served to get everyone in the mood for a rocking good time at the show.

The logistics
OOCL has earned the reputation of being the premier ocean carrier for West End and Broadway musicals. Timing is everything on stage but it is just as important behind the scenes, and OOCL is “the champion” at delivering cargo to the right place at the right time, moving stage sets, props and costumes around the world in time for the curtain to go up. As the official ocean carrier of We Will Rock You, OOCL devoted 9 x 40’HQ to move the show to Auckland, Singapore and Hong Kong.
At OOCL, we believe that containers carry much more than cargo; they also move ideas and culture. We know that backstage, perfect timing is what ensures the show will go on, and OOCL is there, making certain that all the equipment and props get to their final destination in time for the perfect performance.
