OOCL - Wendy Y Z Wu

I have been working in IT for nearly 30 years, with a career spanning industries like Defense, Customs, Shipping and IT companies. I was CEO of an IT company before joining OOCL. The defense industry taught me systems engineering theory and method and I also mastered software engineering there. Working in Customs and Shipping taught me the import/export business and process. While running IT companies, I mastered their operations, IT product planning, design and sales. I wanted to contribute my experiences to OOCL IT.

I joined OOCL in 2007, leading the Podium application development team for the International Logistics Customer Services System (ICS) and Domestic Logistics Customer Services System (DCS). I led this team for three years, overseeing Podium Domestic’s successful rollout in 2009. We currently focus on migrating our ICS and DCS systems to a new framework so that the systems can provide new features and products to users and the market.

As well as project management, I have organized the implementation of our Fresh Graduate training program at our Information System Development Center in Zhuhai (ISDC ZHA) since 2010. I am also coordinating a rotation program which focuses on rotating outstanding staff through 3-5 positions. Both programs are running smoothly and we get a lot of positive feedback from participants.

In April 2011, I was appointed center manager for ISDC ZHA. With this new challenge, I will focus more on the company and its IT strategy and I will work on improving and developing the capabilities of the center. I will lead ISDC ZHA to a new level!
