| I am honored and very proud to be a member of the OOCL family. |
My passion for the shipping industry began as a teenager working summers for Waterman Steamship in New York City, starting in the mailroom and then moving to documentation. After college I landed a full-time position in pricing with Seatrain Lines in New Jersey, one year before OOCL acquired Seatrain’s Pacific division. With OOCL taking over, I transferred to Dart Orient Services, agents for OOCL in the New York World Trade Center. My career with OOCL started in 1981 and since that time I have passed many milestones in my career. During my fist trip to our Headquarters in Hong Kong, I discovered just how much OOCL values cross-functional experience among its future executives.
My most memorable event as the Marketing head in Pleasanton, CA was the christening ceremony in December of 1995 of the OOCL America, the largest container ship in the world at that time, in Long Beach. As Director of Transportation in Pleasanton, CA. responsible for the railroad products and services, I gained hands-on exposure to the nuts and bolts of the industry which helped me fully understand the cost structure of the business. Furthermore, the position of Director of Customer Service for the Northeast Region, domiciled in New York City provided me with invaluable experience in customer service.
With pricing, sales, marketing, operations and customer service experience, I am now progressing to the position of Vice President of Trans-Atlantic Trade and have been fully engaged in improving the contribution of Atlantic trades to OOCL’s overall bottom line.
At OOCL, our work is a series of functional handoffs. Our people are our most important asset and we work best for our customers, colleagues, partners and shareholders when we work well across each functional task. I am honored and very proud to be a member of the OOCL family, and one of the integrated hands helping our company achieve our mission statement. |
