HKIE Graduate Sharing - Allen Mak

My name is Allen Mak. I joined OOCL around 3 years ago and have been working in the Application Infrastructure team.

Joining OOCL’s HKIE Scheme-A training program has provided good opportunities to polish my soft skills as well as strengthen my technical competence. In the 2-year training, I was assigned to different roles in IPCC and Online Chat projects. Through these projects, I was able to demonstrate and hone my communication and management skills and get first-hand experience of enterprise system integration. In addition, I learnt several advanced methodologies (object-oriented design, software development lifecycle, and Agile software development methodologies) and technologies (complex event processing, enterprise messaging and Java EE). I also got a chance to work in the ISO-certified datacenter to acquire knowledge of enterprise system architecture design and ITIL processes.

Monthly sharing sessions are a great platform to learn and understand what other training program participants are working on. Being an MC in a monthly all-hands meeting and running regular technical sharing sessions could also provide good training exercises for all graduates to practice their communication skills and presentation techniques.

OOCL is known to investing in IT infrastructure and training young IT talents. If you are looking for a great place to work and nurture your IT career, you should consider joining us and explore new horizons!
