HKIE Graduate Sharing - IRIS-2 application development team
My name is Forest Kwan. I got to know OOCL through career-talk and office visit. I was impressed not only by the advanced IT products and infrastructure, but also by their focus on training local IT talents. OOCL offers the HKIE scheme “A” training program in order to provide well-rounded training and professional exposure to fresh graduates. I have been part of this program for almost a year now.
I work in the Application Infrastructure team as a technical analyst. I am responsible for the in-house development of our ERP system, IRIS-2. I have contributed to the Voice Recording and Caller ID Repository project. My works is not just limited to coding, but also involves system analysis, architecture design, and testing. These tasks provide me opportunities to be trained as a professional engineer.
Besides technical skills, I am also acquiring useful soft skills in the scheme “A” program, such as project management. We employ the Agile development methodology in several projects. Under this approach, both project manager and developers take responsibility for project management. Thus, I can learn to manage a project by defining tasks and allocating resources.
OOCL provides an encouraging environment for learning and sharing. I believe this is valuable for graduates who aim at developing their career in IT. I hope you won’t miss this chance. Join us and embark on this challenging and exciting journey!
