OOCL San Jose Information System Development Center
Established in 1994 in Silicon Valley, the San Jose Information System Development Center (ISDC) is one of the most prestigious development centers in OOCL, delivering award-winning products, such as Integrated Regional Information System (IRIS-2). Starting with the development of IRIS-2, the San Jose ISDC has always been the pioneer in the use of cutting edge technologies to tackle challenges from the container shipping business, one of the most complicated domain areas among all industries.
The San Jose ISDC is located in the heart of Silicon Valley, home to headquarters of many well-known hi-tech companies. This enables us to engage and recruit the best resources for the technologies we use. Besides hiring locally, we also host staff transferred from other ISDCs bringing specialized skills and knowledge for the development of the enterprise system. Currently we have over 60 employees, who are specialized in server technology, framework/architecture, database administration, application development, business analysis, quality assurance, release and support coordination. We also have our own human resources and IT support services.
We have people from all over the world and diversity is one key component that contributes to our culture. We celebrate Chinese New Year, Diwali, and the holiday season every year. Everyone is very friendly and accommodating with each other regardless of their different backgrounds. We work hard and play hard. Like many hi-tech companies in Silicon Valley, we also have the "flexibility" to achieve best results without the traditional constraints. For example, we offer flexible working hours and a work-at-home program. All of this helps us have an open mind and be very innovative, yet be practical.
In addition to our greatest resource, our people, we also have the computing power to make things happen. Our office features a modern data center with many servers and 100TB disk storage to support our development and testing activities. Our team deliverables include enterprise system architecture and framework design as well as strategic application development projects which not only demonstrate and enable the best use of the cutting edge technologies but also deliver high business value at the same time.
Recently, we have started working on the new generation of the enterprise system with deliverables starting to rollout as early as second half of this year. Thanks to our adoption of Agile Development process about two years ago, we can develop with the right focus and get feedback from our users in a short cycle. Our unique opportunity to be able to collaborate intimately with the core development resources from high tech companies is also another key factor in adding to our agility. Most importantly, our rich experience in enterprise system development in close partnership with other ISDCs enables us to be successful. We are looking forward to contributing more capabilities to the OOCL portfolio so that OOCL remains the most competitive carrier in the world.
