Freight Forwarder Compensation

 

 

 

Applicable to TAG only:

9.1 Payment of Commission

Unless other specified, commission on traffic of Canadian origin will be paid on the basis of the following:
Eastbound: $30 per 20’ and $50 per 40’ and 45’
Westbound: $13 per 20’ and $25 per 40’ and 45’

Note: On prepaid shipments, payment of commission will only be made after freight has been paid.

9.2 Conditions under which Commission will be paid

In order to qualify for the above commission, the applicant

a) Must have completed commission application form, and must be approved by the Carrier.

b) Must perform two or more of the following functions:
i. Book the cargo
ii. Co-ordinate the movement of the cargo
iii. Process and prepare the ocean Bill of Lading
iv. Provide payment of ocean freight charges if prepaid, in accordance with the ocean carrier credit accounts.

c) Must show name of Forwarder on Bill of Lading

d) Must not, in any manner, be affiliated or connected with any shipper, consignee, exporter or importer, buying or selling agent, or represent any steamship line.

e) Must not remit or share any port or portion of said commission with any shipper or consignee, affiliate or employee of said shipper and/or consignee.

f) Must not share office space or office expenses with any shipper, consignee, exporter or importer, or buying or selling agent.

g) “In House Freight Forwarders”, who furnish proof that they provide freight forwarding services to third parties, may not be subject to Rules 9.2 - d, e, or f. 

9.3 Commission will not be paid on:

· Advance charges
· Arbitraries of any kind
· Attendance charges
· Surcharges of any kind
· Inland charges
· Excess Weight Supplementary Charges
· Terminal Service Charges
· Returned Cargo
· Consolidation Cargo

9.4 Commission will not be paid to:

· Any company signatory to a merchant’s agreement with the Carrier
· Trucking companies
· Cartage companies
· Railway or express companies
· Terminal ships supply or marine contracting companies
· Agents or representatives of ocean carriers
