Reefer Service

Reefers on Rail in China

In cooperation with the China Railway Container Transport Center, OOCL pioneered the first reefer train service in from Xian to Qingdao on December 12th, 1998.  On May 12th, 1999, another regular reefer train service from Chengdu to Shanghai also commenced.  Although in North America reefer trains are not uncommon, this is the first reefer train in China. This intermodal mode opens up the gateway for inland China, especially those areas that cannot be reached by feeders.
