OOCL Antwerp Named at Koyo Dockyard

OOCL is proud to announce that the third of eight 5,888-TEU S-Class vessels was named the m.v. OOCL Antwerp by the vessel’s Sponsor Dr. Rulin Fuong at the Koyo Dockyard Co. Ltd., of Imabari Shipbuilding Group, in Mihara City, Hiroshima Prefecture, Japan on 12 May 2006.

Mr. Andy Tung, Director of Corporate Planning and Marketing of Orient Overseas Container Line Ltd., spoke at the ceremony: “As containerized trade continues its rapid growth and expansion, there is an increasing need to offer high-quality services in order to effectively serve the market. This state-of-the-art, S-Class vessel and her sister ships, comes at a most opportune time; providing us with the necessary assets to offer ever-greater service to our customers,” he said. “We are most gratified and honored to have the m.v. OOCL Antwerp built by the finest shipyard in Japan.”

The m.v. OOCL Antwerp is is the latest design with modern technology fully complied with the international regulations including environmental protection, and is the third of the S-Class vessels to be delivered this year.

"We look forward, with complete faith, to this first-class, new-generation vessel; that she will carry out her many voyages with great strength, speed and excellent health for decades to come; upholding the honor of her builders," said Mr. Tung.
