OOCL’s IDX Joint Shipping Service adds Cochin to Weekly Rotation

Orient Overseas Container Line Ltd. (OOCL) has announced the addition of a call to India’s Port of Cochin in the weekly schedule of its IDX joint-shipping service, for trade between India and the Indian Subcontinent and the US East Coast, effective 5 January 2007.

The IDX service is OOCL’s first direct service between India and the US East Coast and comes in response to customer’s increased demand for quality service from India’s fast-growing market.

The IDX service will deploy eight vessels with a capacity of 2,500-2,600 TEUs each, with extensive port coverage for the west coast of India. It will also provide fast transit time for cargo from Karachi relayed over Mundra.

The IDX’s new fixed weekly schedule covers Tuticorin / Cochin / Nhava Sheva / Mundra / Barcelona / New York / Norfolk / Charleston / Barcelona and Colombo for a 56-day rotation.
