OOCL Dubai Named at Koyo Dockyard & Inauguration of MAX Service

Orient Overseas Container Line (OOCL) is proud to announce that the fourth of eight 5,888-TEU S-Class vessels was named the m.v. OOCL Dubai by the vessel’s Sponsors Mrs Jennifer Liu Sung and Ms Amy Liu at the Koyo Dockyard Co. Ltd., of Imabari Shipbuilding Group, in Mihara City, Hiroshima Prefecture, Japan on 29 June 2006.

Mr. CC Tung, Chairman and Chief Executive of Orient Overseas International Limited, OOCL's parent company, spoke at the ceremony: “Once again, it is my great honor to be here today at the Koyo Dockyard to witness the completion of this beautiful vessel."

“We are most gratified and honored to have the OOCL Dubai built and made ready by the finest shipyard in Japan to serve OOCL’s customers.”

The OOCL Dubai, is one of eight S-Class, next-generation vessels being built for OOCL by Koyo Dockyard of Imabari Shipbuilding Group. The vessel's advanced technology fully complies with the international regulations including environmental protection, and is the fourth of the S-Class vessels to be delivered to OOCL this year.

The OOCL Dubai has a special place in OOCL's services, as it will be the inaugural vessel to be deployed on OOCL's newest service linking China with Malaysia, Southeast Asia and the Middle East.

The new Middle East-Asia Express service (MAX), will be the largest-capacity provider in the Asia/Middle East Trade, and the OOCL Dubai will cover a port rotation of: Shanghai / Ningbo / Hong Kong / Shekou / Singapore / Port Kelang / Jebel Ali / Port Kelang / Singapore / Hong Kong and back to Shanghai, for a 35-day round trip.
