OOCL promotes a green office and enhances customer services with ‘eDoc’

OOCL’s global activities during Green Week in July highlight our commitment to environmental care. Year-round, OOCL is dedicated to reducing the use of paper in our global network of offices, with a commitment to using eDocumentation (eDoc) for a variety of services.

OOCL customers are proving they are increasingly eco-conscious, and are also taking advantage of increased efficiency and lower costs with eDoc services. OOCL customers can now use eB/L, eShipping Instructions (eSI) and eBooking to fulfil their transportation requirements with minimal carbon footprint or environmental impact.

Customers can submit shipping instructions (eSI) to OOCL online through My OOCL Center, offering improved document accuracy, reducing the need for re-keying and shortening document turnaround time. eSI also helps customers ensure timely manifest submission in compliance with Customs requirements.

With eBooking, customers can submit booking requests, immediately receive the booking numbers, and query all booking submissions online. Likewise with eB/L (Bill of Lading Document Manager) customers can manage the B/L process with OOCL online.  OOCL can upload draft B/L for customers to quickly view the content, request changes, and accept draft documents, reducing phone and fax costs.  You can then print your original B/L, sea waybills, or copy B/L conveniently from your own office, eliminating unnecessary courier costs.

A growing trend amongst our Asian customers shows increasing awareness of environmental protection, as well as taking advantage of improved efficiency. In Korea and Pakistan the percentage of OOCL customers using our eDoc services is now an impressive 96-99%, while more than 99% of our customers in the Chinese mainland have been using eDoc for several years.  North Americans are also among the world’s most eco-conscious, with 77% of customers using eBooking and 72% of customers using eB/L services.

We encourage all customers to use our available eServices, helping us contribute to an environmentally sustainable workplace.
