OOIL (HKEX. 0316) Included in Hang Seng Corporate Sustainability Index and Hang Seng ESG 50 Index

5 September 2022 (Hong Kong)- Orient Overseas (International) Limited (HKEX.0316) ("OOIL" or “the group”) is pleased to announce that it has been listed as a constituent stock on the Hang Seng Corporate Sustainability Index ("HSSUS") and the Hang Seng ESG 50 Index, with immediate effect today, September 5, 2022.

The HSSUS consists of the 30 Hong Kong-listed companies which have the best performance in corporate sustainability, and is an index listed under the Hang Seng Corporate Sustainability Index Series. The Hang Seng ESG 50 Index includes the top 50 mid- and large-cap Hong Kong-listed companies that perform best in ESG.

To ensure the Hang Seng Corporate Sustainability Index Series are objective, reliable and of high investability, the constituent selection is based on a robust process that includes consideration of the results from a sustainability assessment developed and carried out by an independent and professional assessment body, Hong Kong Quality Assurance Agency(HKQAA). HKQAA’s assessment is based on 7 sustainability core criteria which include Corporate Governance, Human Rights, Labour Practices, Environment, Fair Operating Practices, Consumer Issues, and Community Involvement and Development. This year, OOIL’s Sustainability Rating is “AA”.

Inclusion in the Hang Seng Corporate Sustainability Index and Hang Seng ESG 50 Index is recognition of OOIL’s continuous efforts and commitment to environmental, social, and corporate governance practices over the years. Moving forward, OOIL will continue to enhance the integration of sustainable development principles into its corporate operations and business activities, in order to satisfy the requirements of all applicable regulations and to meet the evolving needs and expectations of our stakeholders.
