Hong Kong is a world-class financial, trading and business center, and the center of rapidly-developing East Asia. Situated at the south-eastern tip of China, with a total area of 1,104 square kilometers, Hong Kong's territory covers Hong Kong Island, the Kowloon Peninsula and the New Territories, which also includes 262 outlying islands.
Hong Kong's close relationship with Mainland China has built the region into the world's most dynamic and important entrepot, and Hong Kong is the key offshore capital-raising center for Chinese enterprises. Many international corporations choose to set up their regional headquarters or representative offices in Hong Kong, creating even greater economic advantages for the region.
Hong Kong is also blessed with a superb deep-water harbor, offering a safe haven for ships in close proximity to the Pearl River Delta Region. Over the years, Hong Kong developed into a world-class container port.

OOCL Hong Kong and Supply Chain Management The port handles approximately 80 percent of Hong Kong's total cargo throughput. The container port is vital, not only for the region itself, but also for Southern China - one of the fastest industrializing areas in the world, as some 78 percent of container traffic handled in Hong Kong is related to Southern China. Transportation links with the mainland are well established and future development of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge, Shenzhen Western Corridor and Deep Bay Link connecting Hong Kong to Shekou will all strengthen the connection across the regions and mark Hong Kong as a major hub port in the global supply chain, with services to over 500 destinations worldwide.
