- cargo weight should not exceed container maximum payload weight
- two 20 footers on one chassis is allowed but the maximum weight same as above mentioned 23 metric tonnes.
2. Terminal Limitation
- Nhava Sheva International Container Terminal (NSICT)
- Gantry Crane Maximum Capacity: 40 Tons
- Non-working Days:
- Republic Day (Jan. 26)
- Independence Day (Aug 15)
- NhavaSheva International Container Terminal operational for 365 days. There are no holidays.
Chennai

3. Transshipment Restrictions
- Transshipment is not permitted
4. Dangerous Cargo
- Nhava Sheva International Container Terminal (NSICT)
- Radioactive materials are prohibited
- IMCO classes 1/2/7 are prohibited
- For remaining IMO classes, prior permission has to be obtained for good order
- IMCO class 2 is acceptable. Class 1 & 7 are not acceptable.

5. Customs Requirements
- Nhava Sheva
- Full name and address of Inbound Consignee/Notify Party/Also Notify Party in the country is required.
- Actual piece count must be declared.
- Import General Manifest must be filed 48 hours prior vessel's arrival.
- Importer Exporter Code (IEC) of the Importer has to be mentioned in the BL for the Import Shipments as prefix to the Importer Name.
Chennai
- Export Load is only permitted to connect onto feeder vessels duly certified by customs authorities
- Import General Manifest should qualify all details including weight, full style of shipper, consignee or notify party
- Import General Manifest must be filed 48 hours prior vessel's arrival
