OOCL signed up to the Fair Winds Charter, an agreement to switch low-sulphur fuel at berth in Hong Kong.
OOCL joined the Business Environment Council (BEC).
OOCL won the Environment Protection Award at the Seatrade China Awards Ceremony held in Dalian on October 13, 2010.
Orient Overseas (International) Limited (OOIL) is proud to announce its inclusion as a founding constituent in the new Hang Seng Corporate Sustainability Index. The index series is the first of its kind to focus exclusively on Hong Kong and mainland China.
OOCL is delighted to announce the launch of the OOCL Carbon Calculator on April 27, 2010. The calculator is designed to assist OOCL customers in measuring the carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions in their supply chain.

OOCL achieved 100% compliance with Port of Los Angeles Vessel Speed Reduction (VSR) programme.
LBCTI purchased four additional "Regen" units for rubber-tired gantry (RTG) cranes in the Port of Long Beach, helping to reduce emissions and cut fuel consumption by 25%.
OOCL environmental website launched.
OOCL voluntarily switched to cleaner trucks in Long Beach. Pre-1990 cargo trucks were banned for all port moves between Southern California terminals and off-dock rail ramps.

OOCL achieved 100% compliance with Port of Long Beach Green Flag Program for second consecutive year.
LBCTI participated in a program to test liquefied natural gas (LNG) on some heavy equipment.
Our first rate RTG at LBCTI operated and tested with flywheel technology.

Fleet Modernization Program to maintain the most efficient, lowest emission yard tractors and Terminal Utility Vehicles. The diesel vehicle age is limited to a 10 year maximum in order to keep the cleanest, most modern fleet available.

Safety and environmental protection management system accredited by DNV for fleet management and all vessels.
