Demurrage & Detention Free Time and Charges

Middle Eastern ports’ detention and demurrage terminology and application are different from other ports of the world and this brief guideline will serve to assist both our internal colleagues and our external customers on the proper understanding and application of both detention and demurrage. We have received many inquiries and clarifications on this matter and thus we have drafted herein the details for the different countries in the Middle East where OOCL operates. The detention and demurrage policies are applicable for inbound or import shipments into the Middle East. It is important to note that in all Middle East countries where OOCL operates, port related charges (i.e., storage charges) are directly settled by consignees to the port/terminal operator. Carrier is not involved in the computation and collection of port storage charges.
Abu Dhabi / Jebel Ali / Port Rashid / Sharjah / Ajman - United Arab Emirates
