Operational Restrictions

1. Road Limitation  

There is no road limitation for transportation of containers to/from port area, except for ports at Thilawa (MITT) which are nine miles from the main port.

2. Terminal Limitation 

The terminal works 24 hours a day (in 2 shifts) including Sat/Sun and Public Holidays (with special charges).

3. Transshipment Restrictions

  • No transshipment restriction and if containers are required to be transshipped, T/P is to obtain prior vessel arrival for smooth transshipment.

4. Dangerous Cargo Restrictions

  • IMO is the only classification recognized by the Port Authorities.
  • IMO Class I to be discharged at Anchorage.
  • IMO Class II to be discharged directly onto trucks waiting at the jetty. No landing permitted.
  • IMO Class III and above to be discharge as per normal containers.

5. Customs Requirements

  • Following data is required to be declared in the manifest, which must be filed to Customs 24 hours prior to a vessel's arrival:

    • Bill of Lading number
    • Full name of shipper, consignee and notified party
    • Container/seal number
    • Number of packages/nature of packing/commodity
    • Gross/net weight
    • Marks and numbers
  • In the case of dangerous cargo, besides the above data, shippers are required to declare the IMO clause and advise the Authorities before discharging.
  • Customs examination is required for every shipment. After examination, the container is to be sealed with a customs seal for every export container.

6. Import Cargo Restrictions

Import of Used Cars to Myanmar 

I) Used-Cars only. Model must be manufactured year 1995 or later. Cars should be ready to move/ in movable condition after unstuffing in C/Y.

II) B/Ls, Manifest and document declarations:

a) B/L should be CY/CY.

b)All the items, statements and facts mentioned on the shipping papers must be true and correct:

i)Shippers/Consignees - Must be actual as per corresponding license/import permit. Spellings of names should be correct (NRC registration number should be correct)

ii) Model/Brand Name of the car /Year of built/ Chassis Nbrs/Import Permit Nbr & L/C Nbr (if mentioned) should be correct.

iii) Any amendments on b/l & manifest must be made before 24hrs of berthing of vsl at port. 

c) Normal /Regular Spares & Accessories together with the vehicles. Inclusive Spares & accessories (such as spare wheel, Car-Jack lift, etc.,) should be kept securely inside the vehicles under lock and keys. No items which are not included in the license should be put inside the body of the car.
