Road Haulage - Maximum Cargo Weights

In the UK the total gross vehicle weight (vehicle, chassis, container, genset and cargo combined) for road haulage must not exceed 44,000 kg (97,000 lb). Based on common equipment weight combinations, the recommended maximum cargo weight for 20fts is 21,700 kg (47,838 lb), and 40fts 25,500 kg (56,215 lb).

Slightly heavier payloads of up to 26,000 kg (57,319 lb) may be possible, but these will depend on the combined weight of the specific equipment being used. For example, an especially lightweight vehicle and chassis may have to be sourced, along with a container that is plated for a higher payload. These are offered subject to availability.

Out of Gauge Cargo

This may be handled using special equipment like Open Top or Flat containers. Accurate cargo dimensions and weights are needed to enable appropriate handling and pricing: please email your local Sales office with full specifications.
