OOCL equipment helps train US Department of Homeland Security officers

OOCL has donated a 20’ container and chassis (structural frame) to the US Customs and Border Protection’s Field Operations Academy and Federal Law Enforcement Training Centre in Charleston, South Carolina.

The equipment is being used daily to help train customs officers and other federal law enforcement officers on the use of the Vehicle and Cargo Inspection Systems (VACIS). The first VACIS class at the Customs and Border protection (CBP) Academy, held in Charleston in February 2008, was attended by CBP Officers from Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, South Carolina, Texas, and Washington.

“I would like to thank OOCL for the donation of the container and chassis to enhance our training for various agencies under the Department of Homeland Security,” said Eddie Basham, Instructor at the CBP Field Operations Academy, Federal Law Enforcement Training Centre.

“This contribution allows the CBP Field Operations Academy to better train officers and other federal law enforcement officers. As you can see from our first class held in February, this contribution will impact Homeland Security on a nationwide basis,” added Mr Basham.
