OOCL donates US$100,000 to Delta Hospice Society

OOCL has donated US$100,000 to the Canada-based Delta Hospice Society building fund. The donation will go towards their US$8.5 million project to build an in-patient hospice residence and supportive care centre, for which over US$5 million has been raised already.

The Delta Hospice Society is a non-profit charitable community-based organization that exists to help individuals and their families experiencing a life-threatening diagnosis, advanced illness or bereavement.

“One of OOCL’s core values is community responsibility, and we believe the communities where we live and work contribute to our company’s success. We are pleased to be able to give something back to the local community in Delta,” said Dave Watson, president of OOCL (Canada) Ltd. “We support this project and encourage others to support it as well”.

“This is a significant gift and we are honoured to receive this donation,” said Delta Hospice Executive Director, Nancy Macey. “It not only demonstrates the generosity of OOCL, but also shows international recognition of the importance of every community having a comprehensive program of palliative care services. OOCL is doing business in Delta and this donation will directly impact the quality of life of the residents of Delta."
