OOCL announces Europe Asia Trade General Rate Increase Ocean freight rates continue to be below the required level to cover basic operating costs or transportation costs. Considering that the current levels are unsustainable for the long term, OOCL would like to inform our valued customers that we are announcing a rate restoration programme, to be applied on May 1st, 2010.
The increases, which are required in order to maintain a viable service level and a comprehensive liner network for all of our customers, are as follows;
US$100/TEU for cargo moving from North Europe and West Mediterranean regions to Asia.
US$100/Container for cargo moving from the Black Sea/East Mediterranean regions to Asia.
Further rate restorations to be applied during 2010 will be announced in due course.
