CATS - Mysterious World of the Feline
The Story
On a special night each year, the Jellicle Cats, a tribe of cats with unique abilities and special traits, reunites to celebrate who they are, and their leader, the wise Old Deuteronomy, will choose which one of the Jellicle Cats will journey to the Heavyside Layer to be ‘reborn’ into a new life!
CATS is the most famous musical of all time. It first exploded onto the West End stage in 1981 and completely changed the face of musical history. Opening to rave reviews it went on to win a record-breaking number of awards worldwide. The show opened on Broadway in 1982 and went on to hold the unique position of being the longest running musical in both West End and Broadway history. CATS closed on Broadway in September 2000 and played its final West End performance on its 21st birthday on 11th May 2002.
The music was composed by Andrew Lloyd Webber, whose eclectic, rock-based work helped revitalize musical theater. 'Memory', one of the many classic songs from CATS, became an instant worldwide hit. Since then CATS has smashed numerous records and conquered the world. The musical is based on a book of poems by T. S. Eliot.
The show uses the latest technology and the breathtaking visuals and full digital sound will lead you deep into the mysterious world of CATS. It begins its tour in Kuala Lumpur in September 2002, with 45 performances scheduled.
