Customer Advisory: Net Weight and Gross Weight for DG shipments via Singapore

Please note that Dangerous Goods(DG) shipments moving via Singapore require declaration of both the net weight and the gross weight. Although the International Maritime Dangerous Goods (IMDG) only requires shipper to provide either gross or net weight but not both for DG shipments, this requirement is specific to Singapore bound cargo, and cargo being transshipped at Singapore.

The gross weight includes the weight of the packaging as well as the weight of the DG itself and hence declaration of the weight of DG cargo is artificially inflated, when overall Singapore Dangerous Goods weight restrictions are being considered.

Please be guided accordingly.
