Customer Advisory – Export Booking Window Timeline Change - On Line Bookings
Dear Customer,
Due to the continued tight space availability in the North American export market, effective March 8, 2010 OOCL will be limiting acceptance of on line booking requests via oocl.com or cargosmart.com to the current week, plus the following seven weeks. This eight week booking acceptance window will allow OOCL to better control the management of available vessel space and the related equipment supply planning. We have for the past few months experienced an increase in closed vessels and canceled bookings that are in part due to overbooking and customer multiple carrier booking activities in order to secure space. We believe our prudent move to limit the booking acceptance window to this eight week period will benefit you the customer as we improve our space management.
As a note of additional information OOCL is only accepting booking requests from phone or email customers on a current week plus three week basis. Therefore on line booking customers will be able to book their shipments out four weeks beyond those customers who do not book via our on line service options.
We apologize in advance for any disruption in your space planning process as a result of this change in our booking acceptance window, however we feel we need to take this action to improve our service level to our export customers.
