Customer Advisory: US CBP Importer Security Filing (ISF10+2) – new disposition codes
On July 16, 2010, US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) issued
CSMS #10-000169 outlining the implementation of new disposition codes in AMS related to the Importer Security Filing (10+2) program.
This notice outlined the intent to apply specific hold notifications relative to incomplete, incorrect, or missing ISF filing, in line with the final Rule, required 24 Hours prior to lading. These holds, once implemented by CBP, will delay the issue of cargo release, or inland movement to final destination, or potentially prevent cargo loading to the intended vessel.
OOCL would like to remind our customers to make every effort to comply with the regulatory requirements, to ensure the smooth movement of your cargo to or via the US.
On August 17, 2010, CBP issued a subsequent notice,
CSMS #10-000194, correcting some of those codes, (mainly the Unhold notices) which are listed below for your reference.
Please note that OOCL / OOCL Logistics also has the capability to file ISF10 messages on your behalf, should this be required. Please contact your nearest OOCL / OOCL Logistics CSU office for further information on this service.
While the changes described in these CSMS messages will become effective on Wednesday, September 15, 2010, according to CBP, they will allow time for programming to handle these new codes, and will not begin applying the new ISF Hold disposition codes prior to November 1, 2010.
