Since our first
ship reached the U.S. Atlantic Coast and Europe in 1947,
OOCL has been at the forefront of the transport industry.
In 1969, OOCL took a giant step for global
trade by embracing containerization – marking the beginning
of a long, exciting journey.
In 2009, we are
celebrating the 40th anniversary of containerization.
OOCL Awarded
"Best Carrier" at CIFFA Forwarder's Choice Award
OOCL
was the proud winner of "Best Carrier from Central Canada to
the Far East " at the 2009 Canadian International Freight
Forwarders Association's Central region's Forwarder's Choice
Award Ceremony.
Every year the three CIFFA regions award a prize for service
quality, transit times and reliability to the best shipping
and air-freight companies on the most important trade
routes. The nominations are based on a survey of the
association’s members and verification by an independent
commission.
The Central Division has the largest density of Freight
Forwarders and OOCL has won this particular Award as Best
Carrier from Central Canada to the Far East in 2009 – 2008 –
2007 – 2006 – 2003 – 2002 – 2001 – 2000 which is a great
testament of our customers support relationship and
confidence in our company during these many years.
Since 1999, OOCL has accepted ten awards from CIFFA Central
Region, eight from CIFFA Western Region and one from CIFFA
Eastern Region, including eleven as the Best Ocean Carrier
between Canada and Far East, two as the Best Ocean Carrier
between Canada and Europe and three times as the "Ocean
Carrier of the Year."
CIFFA was founded in Montreal as early as 1948, to establish
a professional level in the industry, with uniform quality
standards. Today the association is divided into three
regions – West, East and Central Canada.

resistance to water and minimizes wake-even resulting in
improved energy efficiency and fuel economy.
- Adopted weather routing system to assist master in optimized route
selection for energy conservation.
- Implemented ballast water reduction measures contributing to a better
CO2 / TEU ratio.
- Adopted shaft generator which improves energy efficiency from our main
engines.
- Installed NOx-controlled-certified auxiliary electrical generator
engines which leads to emission reductions exceeding the
criteria stipulated by international marine regulations.
- Advanced slide fuel injection valves, which reduce NOx BY 30%, and
significantly reduce carbon dioxide, smoke and particulate
matter emissions are being adopted.
- Taken part in various programs such as the Ballast Water Management
Program, the Sea Water Scrubber Study, Shore Power Study and
the Port of Long Beach Green Flag program, all of which aim
