Transportation of Dangerous Goods for Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics

Please note that in the interest of the safety and security of the public and participants in the 2010 Olympic Games, the transportation of certain dangerous goods in and around the Vancouver/Whistler and surrounding areas will be controlled during the games.

This risk based interim order responds to requirements built on the work of the Vancouver 2010 Security Surface Technical Working Group and consultation with Industry and input from Transport Canada. The order establishes twelve controlled access zones where the transport of certain dangerous goods into, through or within a zone are subject to controls.

All other aspects of the Transportation of Dangerous Goods Act, 1992, its regulations and standards continue to apply within and outside the twelve controlled access zones. TDG inspectors will be enforcing this requirement as well as all other requirements established under the Act, regulations and standards during the games.

CargoSmart Launches Next Generation of Supply Chain Visibility Reports
Advanced visibility reports help importers and exporters improve on-time shipment performance
and lower transportation costs

Importers and exporters have more access to data about their shipments than ever before from carriers, suppliers, logistics service providers, and in-house systems. "It is time-consuming and difficult for shippers to determine if cargo has been loaded, held on dock, or missed the vessel," said Joe O'Brien, managing director of CargoSmart North America. "CargoSmart's reports make it easier for logistics managers to review cargo activity, identify exceptions, and measure on-time performance and data quality so that they can make better business decisions about their supply chains."

Advanced Visibility Reports
CargoSmart's comprehensive performance and exception management reports build upon its existing shipment report offerings and leverage its exception management functionality. The new reports help shippers, consignees, and logistics service providers that have a high volume of time-critical shipments improve their shipment visibility. The report benefits include:

Shipment Performance Reports - On a monthly basis, customers can view their shipments' performance in easy-to-read charts and summary tables. The reports measure the percentage of containers that loaded on time by port and carrier. Over time, customers can lower their total landed costs by selecting the ports and vessel services that are most reliable and cost effective.
Exception Management Reports - Customers can receive daily and weekly exception management reports in Excel to determine if any shipments are overdue at key points in the supply chain. They save time spotting potential delays in reports rather than searching online and through e-mails.
EDI Performance Reports - CargoSmart's integration customers can now receive weekly reports to measure their EDI data quality. The reports identify missing and out-of-sequence events by ports and carriers. CargoSmart works with customers and their carriers to resolve data quality gaps for important cargo routes and improve data sharing.
Spot-On Reporting Services - To complement the reports, CargoSmart provides 24x7 monitoring services. CargoSmart notifies customers when exceptions to key shipment plans occur. The personalized service ensures that customers know immediately when their most critical shipments may be delayed.
Customer Advocacy Team
CargoSmart's Customer Advocacy Team provides tailored services for customers, including evaluating existing supply chain processes, making product recommendations, preparing customized reports, and monitoring critical shipments to help customers improve supply chain efficiencies. The Customer Advocacy Team recently set up EDI Performance Reports for Brother International, a manufacturer of home and office printers, electronic stationery, and sewing machines for the consumer and fashion industries. The U.S.-based traffic division currently receives multiple-carrier ocean shipment status updates from CargoSmart directly to its ERP system.

"It is critical for us to have timely and accurate information about our import shipments so that we can give our internal and external customers the information they need," said Cecile Martinez-Brown, import/export supervisor for Brother International. "CargoSmart's EDI Performance Reports allow us to better manage our internal EDI events so that we can work with our carriers to improve the data quality of our shipment information."

CargoSmart's subscription-based advanced visibility reporting services are available to customers individually or bundled with CargoSmart's supply chain visibility, execution, collaboration, and compliance solutions

OOCL Logistics launches Payment Audit

With the third in a series of innovative product launches, OOCL Logistics has demonstrated its leadership in information technology and innovative solutions with the launch of Payment Audit, a unique product package offered to OOCL Logistics customers.

Payment Audit allows OOCL Logistics customers to save time and resources, is easy to use, and gives total visibility when checking the validity of their carrier bill.

“With Payment Audit, customers pay only for the transportation services they have received, in compliance with their freight contract. They can check details on every field audited,” said Allan Wong, CEO of OOCL Logistics. “This unique product will also tell customers what has been validated and how it has been done, and is fully customized to their needs.”

Key features of Payment Audit include:
• Customizable audit policy setting on audit items
• Zoom into the audit result to illustrate every un-matched charge item
• Visibility in the entire process, from invoice receipt, audit, discrepancy resolution, to payment
• Measurement of your carriers’ invoicing quality
• Invoice image, data storage and retrieval
• Supports payment audit for shipments managed by logistics providers other than OOCL Logistics

Mr Wong explained that OOCL Logistics’ Payment Audit offers customers unique benefits, including:
• Full visibility in the audit process
• Zero capital investment
• Saved costs incurred by errors and duplications
• Increased accuracy
• Allows pre-audit and post audit functions

“With rates set up in the Payment Audit system, you can repeatedly audit many invoices. Accuracy of auditing is higher, faster and more systematic than the manual process of your accountant,” said Mr Wong. “OOCL Logistics customers can get the “big picture” with details about which charge item has gone wrong, with an accurate calculated amount and explanation. They can also determine what kind of data should be verified and audited. With zero capital investment, our customers can enjoy full visibility in the audit process.”
