NIF Code requirement for all Cargoes to Algeria

With effect from 1st September 2015, according to the Algerian Customs Authority and the Algerian Central Bank, the NIF code (Numero d’Identification Fiscale) with 15-20 numeric digits, is now a compulsory item for all shipments to Algeria, in order to carry out the customs formalities and the delivery of the cargo.

OOCL respectful request to all our shippers and exporters to provide with this NIF of the Algerian importer in the Shipping Instructions at the loading port being added in the body of the Bill of Lading, and the cargo manifest in the Consignee’s field, or in the Notify’s field or in the Goods description field.

With this compliance of the inclusion of the NIF in the shipping documents, the Bill of Lading could be endorsed and cargo will be authorized to be delivered to importers.

In case of missed or wrong insertion of the NIF, containers are subject to be blocked by the Customs Authority upon being discharged, and obliged to be scanned, causing extra costs and many other potential charges imposed by the local authorities.
