Gulf of Aden Surcharge
With the ongoing and increasing incidences of piracy in the Gulf of Aden, additional measures and insurances are required to protect the vessels and crews.
Due to these additional costs being incurred OOCL will be introducing a Gulf of Aden surcharge of US$20 on both eastbound and west bound cargoes transiting the Gulf of Aden. This surcharge will be effective from shipments commencing 1st March, 2009. The surcharge will be added to the freight and will be payable by the freight payer.
OOCL is one of the world's leading container transport and logistics service providers, with more than 280 offices in 58 countries. Linking Asia, Europe, North America, the Mediterranean, Indian Sub-Continent, Middle East and Australia/New Zealand, OOCL offers transportation services to all major east/west trading economies of the world.
Yours sincerely,
