Port Congestion Recovery Surcharge in Sydney

OOCL wishes to advise that the Congestion Recovery Surcharge charged at USD100 per 20' container and USD200 per 40' container, currently applicable to shipments arriving into Sydney from Asian & Middle East origins is to be withdrawn from 5th January 2012 based on vessel arrival date.

This section has resulted from our view of genuine efforts being made by terminal operators to alleviate the port congestion situation; and as we are more than willing to support these efforts by additional speeding up of vessels.

Furthermore the potential softening of import volumes and rationalization of services in the first half of 2012 should have a positive effect on the terminal operations and improve the present congestion.

We will continue to monitor the port service development and will revisit the application of the surcharge should the situation deteriorte again.

OOCL is one of the world's leading container transport and logistics service providers, with more than 280 offices in 55 countries.  Linking Asia, Europe, North America, the Mediterranean, the Indian Sub-continent, the Middle East and Australia/New Zealand, OOCL offers transportation services to all major east/west trading economies of the world.

Yours faithfully,
OOCL (Australia) Pty Ltd.
