Dear Valued Customer,

OOCL operational updates: China, Korea, Japan, Singapore, Italy and the UAE (04 Mar 2020)

In view of the current situation of the COVID-19 outbreak, we are taking appropriate steps across our global network in order to ensure the health and safety of our staff and the continuity of high levels of service to our customers.

At this time, we would like to offer you the latest update on our operations in China, Korea, Japan, Italy and the UAE:

China

  • We are pleased to announce all our offices in China except for the one in Wuhan have already reopened to serve customers. Flexible working arrangement and preventive and contingency measures continue to be in place to protect our staff and client.
  • In general, we have seen many terminals and depots returning back to normal operations.  The reefer plug shortage issue in Shanghai, Tianjin and Ningbo has gradually improved, while more trucking services have resumed.

Korea, Japan, Singapore, Italy and the UAE

  • We are closely monitoring the current COVID-19 outbreak situation in Korea, Japan, Singapore, Italy and the Middle East and maintaining close communications with our customers.
  • To protect our staff and client, we have been taking various precautionary measures for OOCL offices in cities or regions on high alert and where they become applicable:

          - All kinds of social activities are discouraged

          - Disinfection and sterilization have been executed

          - Staff segregation plans and work-from-home arrangements have been implemented to minimize staff concentration

          - Customers are encouraged to use online tools in order to minimize physical contact

  • During this time where special office and work-from-home arrangements have been implemented, our IT strength and capability have been providing us the operational agility we need to successfully continue our work with the customers, such as booking acceptance, contingency planning and other related services.
  • To date, we have not observed any significant terminal or trucking service issues at the ports where we operate in these regions.

Thank you for your understanding and for your continued support of OOCL.
