Heavy
Weather incident off east coast of Australia - Cargo Damaged and Lost
Dear Customer,
We regret to advise
that the APL England (the “Vessel”) has experienced heavy weather off the coast
of Sydney causing significant rolling of the Vessel. During this event, several
containers were damaged falling to the deck and overboard.
The exact number of
containers damaged and overboard is yet to be confirmed. We are working with
the vessel operator to determine those containers affected as soon as possible.
As a result of this incident, the Vessel has had to change its scheduled
ports of call rotation and will now head to Brisbane for further assessment
before continuing her voyage.
The vessel operator
(ANL) has advised the Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) and is
working with authorities to perform all necessary operations safely and
swiftly.
OOCL will keep
customers apprised of all information as it becomes available and we thank you
for your cooperation in this time.
Thank you for your
understanding and for your continued support of OOCL. Should you have any questions,
please feel free to contact our local customer representatives.
Yours faithfully,
OOCL (Australia) Pty Ltd.
