US Ports Strike: Port Congestion Surcharge
Local News
December 20, 2012

Dear Customer,

Referring to our various earlier advisories, we wish to inform you about the introduction of a port congestion surcharge, related to the more than likely upcoming strike on the US East Coast and Gulf ports.

Port Congestion Surcharge: This will be implemented on all cargo received in the United States (including cargo that is moving via our Montreal service) from the first day of the strike onward. The PCS will not apply on cargo received in Canada or Mexico. The PCS will remain in effect until such time as congestion at the ports has eased back to normal levels following the conclusion of the strike.

$800 per 20’ container

$1000 per 40’ container

$1265 per 45’ container

For Westbound (exports ex Europe to the US) it is important to note this charge will be applied on any inbound cargo at North American port on or after December 29, on collect basis, irrespective of cargo receipt date

For any further information please do not hesitate to contact your usual OOCL commercial contacts.
