Customer Advisory: Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) Mandatory Electronic Reporting for Marine Carriers Customs Notice 12-006

Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) has issued Customs Notice 12-006 advising effective September 1st, 2012, CBSA will implement a voluntary transitional period for marine carriers to report outbound container manifest (A6 and A6A) to CBSA through the Advanced Commercial Information (AC) system.  CBSA will also target December 2014 to revise the "Reporting of Exported Goods Regulations" to require mandatory electronic reporting from Marine Carriers.

OOCL is already compliant in reporting the electronic outbound container manifest to CBSA through ACI.

As a reminder, please ensure to provide the Canada Proof of Report number on your Bill of Lading  Shipping Instructions to OOCL Documentation by the Documentation Due Date on your OOCL Booking Acknowledgment.  Bill of Lading Shipping Instructions can be submitted to OOCL by one of the following methods:

  1. Via My OOCL Center (http://www.oocl.com/)
  2. SI via EDI
  3. SI via e-Mail

    Eastern Canada – [email protected] 

Draft Bill of Lading will be available within 24 hours of receipt of complete Shipping Instructions.
