Customer Advisory:  Deliveries and Collections in London During the Olympic Games

With the Olympic Games nearly upon us, we wish to advise customers of arrangements for haulage within London during the affected period.

There is expected to be traffic disruption between July 25, which sees the final stages of the torch relay, and September 9, when the Paralympics finish. This will have a bearing on the transport service we can offer in some areas.

Detailed information including likely traffic hotspots has been made available in the Get Ahead of the Games website (Link is no longer active). This has been developed by Transport for London on behalf of the Olympic Delivery Authority, London 2012, the Department for Transport, the Highways Agency, National Rail, and the Mayor of London.

Our transport team will take into account these expected conditions when planning haulage work. However, to help us effectively perform Import Deliveries and Export Collections within central London over the Olympic period we ask customers to:
  • Check our Haulage Availability guide before making bookings
  • Place bookings as early as possible
  • Be prepared to offer some flexibility on the day & time required, and consider taking afternoon slots

In some cases we may ask for confirmation that there will be vehicular access to the premises concerned.

With advance planning and flexibility we will have every opportunity to meet customer haulage needs. However, in the event that vehicles do run late as a result of congestion we commit to proactively keep you informed.

Should you have any questions or require assistance with regards to this advisory or your shipment needs, contact OOCL Customer Service in USA or Canada at 1-888-388-6625.
