Declaration on Cargo Description and Cargo Weight

Further to our previous Announcement http://www.oocl.com/hongkong/eng/localinformation/localnews/2006/17nov0601.htm regarding “Mis-declaration of Cargo and Overweight container on /over the Road Limitation”, we would like to draw your attention towards the importance of accurate declaration of cargo description and cargo weight.

Several operational incidents were detected lately as a result of cargo mis-declaration by shipper, including:
        a) Dangerous Cargo mis-declared as General Cargo; 
        b) Mis-declaration on cargo weight; 
        c) Loading over the container payload; 
        d) Loading exceeding the road limitation at destination region.

Above-mentioned malpractice may lead to unexpected operational hazard which could cause damage and delay of shipment and worst still human casualties.

Safety in cargo transportation is a principal concern of the industry. It is both of our duties to ensure such safety to be conformed. We are now writing to seek for your cooperation to provide accurate cargo information not only during SI submission, but most preferably at the time of Booking so that proper planning and control can be implemented.

Please be reminded that, any mis-declaration and non-compliance will be subject to all the administration fee, penalty and related cost/ expenses incurred as published at our rule tariff in our website www.oocl.com.
