Proper Cargo Blocking and Bracing Notification

Dear Customers,

We wish to bring you the attention that inadequate/ improper blocking and bracing during cargo stuffing were found quite recently. We would like to remind you the importance of proper cargo blocking and bracing in order to prevent potential personal injury, as well as damage to your goods and our equipment.

In addition, poor or lack of proper blocking and bracing may face with the following consequences:

  • refusal acceptance of the container into the terminal or rail ramp
  • refusal to be discharged at the port of discharge
  • removal of cargoes from the container
  • possible penalty and extra handling costs
  • liability on claims

We are writing to you inviting your co-operation to ensure proper blocking and bracing of all cargo loads. Safety in cargo transportation is our principal concern of the industry. We are sure that you, as a NVOCC / freight forwarder or direct shipper, also share our concerns and are actively taking steps in ensuring the safety measures through the entire shipment route. Give your cargo the best treatment and ensure it arrives in perfect condition.

We encourage you and your shipping partners to review the BNSF Intermodal Rules and Policies Guide, with particular attention to the items covering:

  • Loading, blocking and bracing
  • Prohibited shipments
  • Restricted shipments

Should you have any queries, please feel free to email or contact our customer service department. Thanks for your supporting!
