Customers are advised that the Egyptian Customs Authority has banned inbound cargo in transit to Libya as an anti smuggling risk management action. Per the new regulations;
• Cargo in transit to Libya must be declared in the ship’s manifest for Final Destination Libya
• Containerized cargo for transshipment to Libya must be reloaded into containers with carrier seal intact.
• Reloading of containers in transshipment to Libya must be loaded by sea on liner container vessels.
Under the previous process, cargo in transit to Libya was arranged by customers at their own cost, arrangement and risk after devan at Port of Discharge in Egypt per respective clause in body of BL and relevant declaration to local customs.
To help us manage existing imports that have been affected, OOCL will as a temporary measure no longer accept 'Cargo in transit to Libya' bookings to Egypt. Customers will be updated if/when this position changes.
