The OOCL Australia Awarded 'Best Quality Ship of 2008' by Japanese Pilot Association

In April 2009, the OOCL owned vessel, the OOCL Australia received the ‘Best Quality Ship Award 2008’ from the Japanese Pilot's association. The award, which was established in 2003, was intended to enhance awareness about environment protection in the maritime field.

The OOCL Australia was selected out of a group of vessels which used pilotage services in Japan from September 2008 to October 2008. A total of six vessels received awards with the OOCL Australia being the only full container ship.  The OOCL Australia was recognized not only for being mechanically equipped according to SOLAS rules, but also for its operations which hold compliance and safety measures in high regard.

An award ceremony was held on June 16, 2009 at the Japanese Pilot's Association office in Kaiji Centre Building, Tokyo.
