Emergency Bunker Surcharge Implementation

Dear Valued Customers,

The ongoing war in the Middle East has disrupted fuel transportation through the Strait of Hormuz, resulting in continued challenges to global fuel availability. To ensure access to fuel for cargo movements, and maintain service stability, a temporary Emergency Bunker Surcharge (EBS) will be implemented. The EBS will be applied globally to cover the increased costs that go beyond the scope of existing Fuel Cost Recovery (FCR) / Low Sulphur Adjustment (LSA) mechanisms.

For shipments outside FMC scope, the EBS will be effective from 23rd March 2026 (shipments rate date), subject to regulatory approval. For shipments within FMC scope, the EBS will be effective from 13th April 2026 (shipments rate date).

The EBS set out in this notice is valid until further notice (unless otherwise specified) and governed by and subject to carrier's prevailing tariff(s) published on www.oocl.com. Meanwhile, the EBS will be monitored and reviewed every 14 days to ensure it remains aligned with prevailing fuel availability and cost conditions.

The details of EBS are available on OOCL.com: [Link] (effective from 23rd March 2026) & [Link] (effective from 13th April 2026 )

Please check OOCL website in respect of further notices on change (if any) on EBS tariff.

We appreciate your understanding and continued partnership with OOCL.

Should you have any inquiries, please feel free to contact your OOCL Sales Representatives.

Yours faithfully,

Orient Overseas Container Line
