Deputy Manager - China Tax (with Regional & International Exposure)

The Opportunity: 

 
This is more than just a China tax compliance role. While your primary anchor will be mastering China's VAT and Corporate Income Tax (CIT) landscape, this position offers a distinctive platform to broaden your horizons. You will work directly alongside our Senior Managers to tackle tax advisory and compliance matters across Asia Pacific and Europe.

Accountabilities


  • Lead China Tax Advisory & Compliance – Take ownership of VAT and Corporate Income Tax (CIT) matters across PRC entities, covering tax audits, dispute resolution and strategic advisory to safeguard the Group's interests. 
  • Drive Regional Support – Act as a key support pillar to the Senior Manager, assisting with international tax projects and compliance tasks spanning the Asia Pacific and European regions, giving you a front-row seat to cross-border tax strategies. 
  • Ensure Tax Control & Reporting – Oversee internal tax reporting cycles, including tax budgets, forecasts, and interim/year-end provisions, ensuring accuracy and full statutory compliance. 
  • Manage Transfer Pricing & Risk – Handle transfer pricing compliance, including reviewing related-party transaction forms and Local Files, while proactively identifying risk-minimization opportunities. 
  • Monitor Legislative Changes – Stay ahead of the evolving tax regulatory environment especially in China, evaluate operational impacts, and deliver timely, actionable updates to key stakeholders. 
  • Conduct Strategic Research – Provide technical tax research to support commercial projects and business developments, extending your analysis to regional initiatives as required. 



​Requirements

  • Seasoned China Tax Expertise​: you should have minimum 7 years of solid, hands-on experience in PRC corporate tax, with deep expertise in both VAT and Corporate Income Tax (CIT), gained from a top CPA firm and/or a multinational in-house tax function.  Candidates with minimum 5 years of relevant tax experience will be considered for the role of Assistant Manager; candidates with 8+ years will be considered for the role of Manager, commensurate with the level of their expertise and track record. International Mindset: you are not content with just knowing China tax; you have a genuine eagerness to learn international tax principles and are ready to flex your skills across different jurisdictions.

  • Qualified Professional: you should hold a University degree in Accounting, Taxation, or a related field, with a CPA or equivalent qualification. 
  • Tech-Savvy & Analytical: you should be proficient in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word, with sharp analytical and problem-solving abilities. 
  • Language Skills: fluent in both written and spoken Chinese and English. 
  • Self-Starter Attitude: you should be a highly detail-oriented individual who thrives under pressure, works independently, and collaborates effectively as a team player. 
  • Added Advantage: prior exposure to the shipping or logistics industry is a plus.
