I joined OOCL as Management Trainee in 2011 whilst completing the last year of my Juris Doctor degree from the Chinese University of Hong Kong.  The 3-year MT program set a solid foundation for my career in shipping; I am glad that I chose to start my career with OOCL.

My rotation program began at Intra-Asia and Australia Trade, where I worked hand in hand with Trade Directors as my mentors and learned a great deal on strategic planning and project implementation from trade managements’ view. The rotation in Marine Operation highlighted the cost aspect, scrutinizing every detail in vessel and cargo operations to strive for cost saving opportunities. The 3-month rotation in Shenzhen Customer Service brought me to the heart of our daily business activities, offering a front row seat to the live demonstration of OOCL’s core value - Customer Focus.

Upon completion of the program, I took a 2-year assignment in Saudi Arabia in 2015. Taking a leading role in HR & Administration and Sales management, I assisted in setting up 3 OOCL offices simultaneously in Dammam, Jeddah and Riyadh. From scouting office locations, staffing and training until the 3 offices were ISO9001 certified with 100% sales volume growth over 2 years, it was a lifetime experience with many stories to tell. All were made possible by the dedication, teamwork and the Take It Personally spirit we share in OOCL.

In March 2018, I transferred back to Intra-Asia Trade as Commercial Manager of Vietnam, Taiwan and Cambodia. It is my pleasure to work in a company with people of vastly diverse backgrounds from around the world, all working towards the common goal in creating value for our customers and partners. I am looking forward to the new challenges and opportunities that OOCL will continue to bring forth.
