Bringing Smiles and Companionship to the Elderly: Hong Kong (China) Office's Elderly Home Visits

In October 2023, our Hong Kong (China) office partnered with the Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups Jockey Club Ping Shek Youth S.P.O.T to organize home visits to the elderly in need. It was a rare and precious occasion as most home visits to the needy organized by NGOs were suspended during the epidemic. As the pandemic subsided, 24 volunteers paid individual home visits to senior citizens in need in the community.
The 32 elderly residents visited in the activity were in suitable condition to render home visits as advised by the NGO, including those living alone, some with the need to be taken care of by a house helper or diagnosed with chronic illnesses. The volunteers helped pack necessities into gift bags for the elderly upon their visits. The elderly beamed with happy smiles seeing our visitors and receiving the gifts. And the volunteers took the chance to care for the seniors and talked with them about their daily life. This visit provided a chance to positively impact the elderly's life through companionship and support.
