Fuzhou Colleagues Spread Warmth and Love in Christmas

Along with our blessings and donated materials, OOCL Fuzhou went to visit the pupils at the Min Hou County New Hope Rehabilitation School in December 2018.  This is a special school founded by an American lady,  Ms. Marry Wilette, who helped deaf kids to regain hearing.

The kids were very excited to see us when we arrived their classroom. After the school master introduced the current situation of the school and thanked us for our kindness, we were given a live performance by an instrument teacher of the school.  Although the pupils’ hearing is not restored to the normal level, they could still hear the melodious tunes. Finally, we presented our company souvenir, and made a brief introduction of OOCL’s history and the scale of fleet.

As a non-profit organization, the school has been running with limited resources since it was founded in 2003.  When its founder Marry first came to Fuzhou, she noticed that some kids were unable to speak owing to congenital hearing impairment.  She reckoned that these kids should deserve a happy time in their age, yet they never heard birds singing, never had a chance to say “I love you” to their parents. The fact is, through the cochlear reconstruction and wearing hearing AIDs, they can actually hear again. However, these families couldn’t afford it due to poverty, meaning their children would live the world of silence forever.  Marry was deeply touched and decided to help these children. She raised funds and donated money for the children for the surgery and the purchase of earing AIDS. She also set up this rehabilitation school and hoped that these children could then live a normal life and have chance to get education for a better future.

On our visit day, though it was rainy and windy, the children’s innocent smile made us feel warm. We wholeheartedly wished these kids would grow up healthily and happily.  Though we wrapped up the visit, the spirit of spreading love will never end!
